Again
Tuesday night I was rudely awoken for the second time this year by a loud blaring beep. This beep was of course coming from the demon box, or as most people call it the fire alarm. This time it was only eleven o'clock instead of midnight but it was still infuriating to be forced out of bed, have to walk outside and stand there for twenty minutes to wait for someone to turn the alarm off and then return to bed. The alarm was nothing serious it was just someone who was cooking on the stove and didn't pay attention enough to notice that it was burning before the alarm went off. The fact that it was someone else's mistake that forced me out of bed and kept me from getting back to sleep before midnight is extremely frustrating. I managed to squeeze a nap in before my last class of the day on Wednesday but a twenty minute nap doesn't help much when you missed three hours of sleep the night before. The reason that I was not able to go back to sleep immediately after returning to bed is that I have a recurring problem when I attempt to sleep. This problem is that my mind begins to run with a thought that should be over and done with in about two minutes and then uses it to come up with more an more thoughts until eventually thirty minutes later I am thinking about a completely different thing and still just as awake as I was before. I also have a tendency to not be able to sleep when there is a relatively large amount of light in the room, so when it begins to get bright outside and the light comes through the window I tend to wake up unable to fall back asleep. This is not what happened that night however, the only thing that woke me up that night was the blaring sound of the fire alarm and my phone alarm going off. I would also like to add that I almost fell asleep that morning while attempting to relieve myself immediately after waking up.
