Studying is My Worst Enemy!

For some reason I thought studying would become a natural habit for me once I started college. Needless to say, I was wrong. Maybe it would be easier for me if there weren't so many distractions! Seriously, this campus is full of fun people and fun things to do. That is a gift and a curse all at once. While it's important to go out, make friends, and find things to do for enjoyment, I really need to focus on what's more important than anything, my education. The only problem with that is it's so hard!

On most days I can't seem to put my phone down long enough to even think about opening a book. If I do finally decide to read, I'll lose interest in the subject after a while and it becomes difficult for me to refocus. My friends are also a huge distraction for me. They always invite me to do things with them and it is so hard to say no. Obviously, going out with them sounds way more appealing to my eighteen year old mind than homework will ever be, but I hope to soon find ways to be responsible with managing my time well so that I'll be able to do both.

I guess it all starts with being organized. I need to decide ahead of time which subjects I will study on which days every week. If I stick to that schedule, with as little distractions as possible, I should do fine. I guess I'm just feeling overwhelmed as a freshman with all of this work to do in (what feels like) so little time. It's a lot to handle, but I'm determined to buckle down and do pretty well at this college thing, academically and socially.
