Recently I acquired a new game to play on my soon to be out dated Xbox 360. I didn't think that this game would come even close to interfering with my studies but I may be wrong. I don't mean that I ignore my studies because I would rather play the game. What I mean is that while I am playing the game I lose the ability to tell how much time has passed. For instance, last weekend I began to play around 9:00p.m. with the idea in my head that I would stop and go to bed around 10:30p.m. However when I checked to see what time it was once I stopped I was very surprised to see that it was 12:30a.m.
This doesn't mean that I will be failing all of my classes and have to take them again. It merely means that I will have to struggle between the two very strong urges to 1 play this amazing game or 2 study and make the grades that I want to make. So far I have been able to control myself for the most part and get my studying done, but doing so is becoming more and more difficult.
I will attempt to remedy this problem by budgeting my time more precisely rather than just saying I will play for a little while and then study. What I should , and will, do from now on is to say I will play from 2:00-3:00 and set a reminder on my phone instead of relying on my own internal clock to tell me when it has been an hour.
Just as hindsight my own personal internal clock has never quite been good enough to really rely on for any important measurement of time. This I learned the hard way, several times.
